The middle school design is based on a grade-level community concept, with separate areas for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The communities surround a core of exploratory spaces, which include art, technology, and the media center.
Vocal and instrumental music rooms, the cafeteria, and gymnasium are separated from the academic communities by a large central corridor, which improves sound isolation and enhances student and event circulation. The building is subdivided to increase security in the academic communities and to accommodate after-hour community use.
